Posting! Haven't written anything in a long time, hopefully now though I'll be posting a lot more because my lunch period at school is now clear...
Anyways. There's desert island songs, desert island playlists, desert island people, why not desert island meals? If I was stranded on a desert island, and could only have one dish to eat for the rest of my life, it would have to be homemade bread with roasted tomatoes, fresh butter, and the skirt steak from PokPok in Portland. This because of its nutritionally balanced, filling and more importantly, very very tasty components. Why would this be my desert island meal? Lets break it down.
1. Homemade bread- It's the best thing in the world. Bread seems to absorb goodwill and love, and its flavor and crumb is only enriched when made directly with the heart to hands to dough.
2. Roasted Tomatoes- These have the perfect balance of salty, sweet and vegetable flavor. When slow cooked, they become crispy on the outside, with a soft, pop in your mouth quality that's really hard to stop eating.
3. Fresh Butter-I have recently discovered the amazing properties of fresh homemade butter. Few words can do it justice, and using homemade butter in sauces, brownies, and risottos makes everything taste fresher.
4. Skirt steak from PokPok-The most flavor ever coaxed from any piece of meat, at one of the best Thai places around.
That's it, until tomorrow. Maybe some sort of menu planning next. Thank you seventh period lunch.
